“Home Price Gains are Plateauing”: Corelogic Case-Shiller

NEW report regarding home prices! In the US, home prices have now increased for five consecutive months but the gains are slowing down or plateauing. Also, home price trends varied quite a bit by region. For example compared to a year ago, pandemic boomtowns such as Las Vegas, Phoenix and Seattle are still down significantly from a year earlier but more affordable areas such as the Midwest are still experiencing gains. This is based on the latest CoreLogic S&P Case-Shiller Index that was published on August 29, 2023 (link below). Although there’s a significant lag in the data they provide (a 3 month average of prices from February through June, which is mostly from signed contracts from Feb through May), the information they provide at the metro level is insightful, especially compared to historical price changes.

To give you a quick mortgage interest rates update, according to the Mortgage News Daily the average 30yr fixed rate mortgage is around 7.3% for the current mortgage rates (at the time of filming this video for those with excellent credit).
