Is this Barbie’s mansion? Colorful Florida home with Chanel trees lists for $13M

Real Estate

Come on, Barbie, let’s go party!

Almost as if you’ve stepped into her Dreamhouse, this Florida estate is a splash full of color.

Spanning a grand 7,487 square feet, this four-bedroom, seven-bathroom Boca Raton mansion can be all yours for a whopping $12.95 million.

The current owners spent three years designing and renovating their luxe, high-drama home and are hoping to cash in on a hefty profit. They first purchased the home in 2017 for just $1.2 million.

The home has perfectly manicured artificial grass and is centered around ylang-ylang trees — common in tropical climates throughout Asia. It’s also the same tree that produces the flowers used to make the popular perfume Chanel No. 5.

The custom-designed exterior allows for the lush trees to bloom right on the front porch.

“When [the owners] saw that tree and experienced the scent of the flower, they thought that it would be an absolutely perfect match [for their ideas for the house,]” John Poletto, the co-listing agent with Mark Nestler told Realtor. “The Florida country club lifestyle allows for complete openness and, at the same time, a very dramatic feel.

“This is a statement house. The moment you see it from the street, you feel the grandness of it,” Poletto adds.

He said the owners are willing to give up the home now because it is too big for their current needs.

Completed in 2020, the property is made up of four floors and boasts an elevator. The large windows have been tinted green and built to shield against strong storms, a common occurrence in Florida. Outside, the windows have views of the Arnold Palmer-designed golf course.

The house sits in Boca’s exclusive St. Andrews Country Club community. The buyer of the home who wants access to the club must be prepared to shell out an additional $150,000 entry fee and annual dues of about $50,000.

Named “Le Sumi,” the colors of the dramatic contemporary design are a tribute to the owners’ South African heritage.

They traveled around the world to find material and objects to bring into their custom-made abode.

The result is an upscale modern house with pops of color and intriguing patterns, including a staircase made with sparkling metal mosaic.

The entire property has a smart home system installed for temperature, lighting and security controls.

“They have a lighting system that allows lighting in multiple colors,” Poletto said, adding that it comes in about a “dozen different colors and can be phased throughout the house or just in select rooms.”
