Avril Lavigne drops $7.8 million on new Malibu digs

There was nothing complicated about this decision for Avril Lavigne.

The “Complicated” singer traded up to a $7.8 million beachfront property in Malibu this October after ditching her $5 million Sherman Oaks home, which she previously owned with her ex-husband, Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger.

On a half-acre in Trancas Canyon near Lady Gaga’s home, the 3,500-square-foot house has four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. The residence was built in 1968 but was completely redesigned by Malibu designer Scott Gillen with a clean, minimalist aesthetic, Realtor.com reported.

Lavigne’s new digs offer seamless outdoor experiences with a deck, lawn, pool and outdoor infrared sauna — highly valued amenities during the coronavirus pandemic. The upper patio area has a fire pit, dining area and built-in barbecue island, and the lower pool deck has a gate to a lookout spot with views of the Pacific Ocean.

“No one is coming in the house, and we are not seeing other people,” said Lavigne in a May interview with Nylon. “I never considered myself to be a homebody, but now I think I might be.”

Inside, the single-story home has a wine closet, gourmet kitchen, breakfast bar and office area, plus wood floors, exposed beam ceilings and a fireplace. The master bedroom has vaulted ceilings, a luxe bath, a private patio and a custom closet with a rolling ladder, according to Realtor.com.

The Canadian singer rose to popularity at the turn of the century with hits including “Sk8er Boi” and “Girlfriend.” Lavigne released her sixth album, “Head Above Water,” in 2019 after battling Lyme disease for more than five years.

Lavigne’s broker, Jade Mills of Coldwell Banker Realty, declined to comment to The Post. Seller representative Chris Cortazzo of Compass did not respond to a request for comment.
