There are many reasons that led us into the housing bubble that we face today. Number one is that the FED kept rates so extremely which caused a flurry of people into the housing market. Another reason for the housing bubble is that the US government pumped a bunch of money into the system. That money had to flow somewhere. The US government also stalled out the natural cycle of foreclosures thus restricting supply to the housing market. And let’s not forget institution investors and I-buyers. Because of the amount of money and cheap debt into the system, Wall Street investors exasperated the housing market by buying up real estate more than ever. Instead of Wall Street playing with mortgages and mortgage backed securities, they got into the market of buying and managing housing. But what happens when the housing income isn’t favorable any longer to these investors? You got it, they will begin off loading to ensure thy have realized gains in the sale of these properties. I see a flooded housing market in the next 12-18 months.
