Candyman Mark Tarnofsky puts UES mansion on auction block for $4M

Real Estate

Just in time for Halloween! Candy entrepreneur Mark Tarnofsky, of Campus Candy, and his wife Sarah have put their Upper East Side maisonette on the auction block with a minimum bid of $4 million.

The move comes after almost a decade of trying to sell it the traditional way, as the ground- and basement-floor duplex has been on and off the market since 2012.

Its highest ask was $6.49 million back in 2015. The 4,400-square-foot, two- to three-bedroom home is at 157 E. 84th St., a modern limestone and glass building between Lexington and Third avenues.

It comes with its own private entrance on 84th Street, and it can also be accessed through the building’s lobby.

The seven-story building was designed in 2007 by the late Costas Kondylis, who was known as Donald Trump’s go-to architect. The couple bought the residence for $3.25 million back in 2009. The maisonette opens at street level.

There’s an open living room with 13-foot ceilings and a woodburning fireplace, a dining room and an open chef’s kitchen. The ground floor also features the main bedroom that comes with a small 19-foot bamboo-encased patio.

A staircase — with wine storage underneath — leads to the basement level, which features a soundproof screening room. There’s also a third bedroom/home office space separated by opaque glass-paneled sliding doors.

The unit comes with a $4,632 monthly maintenance fee.

Past and present building residents include the Mets’ star pitcher, Taijuan Walker, who is currently renting the penthouse, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who lived here before she married the singer Nick Jonas.

The sealed bid auction will be held on Nov. 11th, says Misha Haghani, owner of Paramount Realty USA, which is selling the house.
